The must-have toys for Christmas 2018….and how to get them for less

Where can you bag big brand bargains for Christmas and keep yourself on the nice list with the kids?

Discount warehouse sales

Whether your kids love the bright colours and cute characters of Shopkins collectables or the rough and tumble fun of a Nerf Blaster battle, there’s always a host of brand-new big-brand toys for discount prices at the hussh Mega Toy Warehouse Sales.

You can save up to a massive 70% off the retail price of must-have toys from Paw Patrol, Shopkins, Nerf, V-tech, Barbie, Disney, Treasure X and Fisher Price, to name just a few. Click here to sign up to hussh and never miss another toy sale!

Auction websites

These days unwanted gifts start springing up on auction websites, such as e-Bay or gumtree, within hours of being unwrapped. Most are in brand-new condition and many are still in their original, unopened packaging. You can expect to see savings of around $20 or so, although sometimes, really in-demand toys will even be marked up from their original price!

Buy, sell, swap groups on social media

These groups help connect local people who want to exchange new or used items between themselves. You can post in the group if you’re looking for something specific, like the missing Shopkins for your little one’s collection, in the hope that someone will be able to help out. One Sydney group on Facebook has around 44,000 members and one for Melbourne’s Western Suburbs has around 30,000.

Boxing day sales
This option is likely to see you drop a few spots on the nice list as you’d have to wait until after the big day to present your gifts. Even then, you’re unlikely to find the big brands on sale in store.

Garage sales
While you’re unlikely to find the latest Fingerlings or Harry Potter Lego at your neighbourhood garage sale (unless you’re really lucky!), you might find some classic toys, like Barbie or Beanie Babies, for just a few dollars. Just make sure they are in good condition before buying.

Top toys for Christmas 2018

Paw Patrol – the cartoon rescue pups’ fire truck toy is red-hot this Christmas!

Shopkins – the collectables are still incredibly popular, especially with their new

Hairdorables range.

Treasure X – dig up treasure with these popular toys.

Nerf Laser – allows kids to play laser tag using a wireless connection.

Lego – look out for the Harry Potter Hogwarts Express and Jurassic World sets.

Fingerlings Untamed Dinos – a sell-out last year, these palm-sized puppets have come back as dinosaurs!

Scruff-a-Luvs – these balls of fluff need some TLC to transform them into cute cuddly toys.

Hatchimals Mystery – already popular in toy stores, these gifts are a complete mystery until they ‘hatch’.

Don’t miss out on our exclusive hussh Melbourne Toy Warehouse Sale  happening this Saturday 3 November, with up to 60% off big brand toys including!

Justice League Superman Figure $11

My Little Pony Equestrian $11
Star Wars Trivial Pursuit $27.50

Frozen – Anna, Elsa and the gang from Arendelle are still not ready to ‘let it go!’

Barbie – the iconic doll celebrated her 59th birthday this year and is still on lots of Santa’s wish lists.

Star Wars – anything rebel alliance related is still flying off the shelves.

Ok so this might not be a way to get your hands on the big brands but a crafternoon or two using you tube tutorials can help you create a lot of in-demand toys for the kids. For example, have you been slimed yet?! The gooey trend is still huge so why not have some fun with the kids over the holidays and make your own? The ingredients are probably in the craft drawer and kitchen cupboard already…
