5 Areas With the Best Outlet Shopping in Sydney
Discover the best areas for outlet shopping in Sydney.
There are outlets and warehouses catered all over greater Sydney, but there are some areas where you can hit two (or ten) birds with one stone.
The inner west – particularly Alexandria, Rosebery, Mascot and Tempe – is the perfect place to start, with plenty of major brand outlets hidden in the industrial area.
Here’s a rough guide to Sydney’s major outlet shopping hubs.
Alexandria/Waterloo
Botany Road – on the cusp of Waterloo and Alexandria – is the area’s main artery, and it is ripe with outlets! If you’re game enough to explore the suburb on foot, you can start at Green Square train station and wander down Botany Rd. (Full disclosure: the full stretch of outlets in this area is vast. A car is recommended, but a combination of walking and public transport is doable.)
Just out of Green Square station, be sure to stop at the Wittner outlet on Bourke St, where you can find great prices on current and former season shoes. If that doesn’t satisfy your appetite for footwear, there is also a huge range at the FSW Shoe Warehouse on McEvoy St.
Along Botany Rd you’ll find a range of sportswear outlets like New Balance, Puma and Canterbury. Reebok is also nearby.
For those looking for new clothes, there’s a bargain basement Cotton On store on Botany Rd, plus great swimwear bargains at Seafolly.
Rosebery
If you’ve driven to Alexandria, you might as well visit Rosebery which is only an extra five minutes down the road.
For a full rundown, you can read our comprehensive guide to the area, but here’s the brief: Definitely come here for either breakfast or lunch and visit the Zimmermann, Camilla and Marc and Ellery outlets (opening March 2).
Birkenhead Point
You’d be hard pushed to find a mainstream, mid-range brand that doesn’t have an outlet at Birkenhead Point. The well established shopping centre has everything from Glue and Kathmandu.
It has a great range of womens fashion outlets, including Seed, Country Road and Cue, and will definitely cure your lust for lingerie (see: Calvin Klein, Simone Perele, Oroton, Bonds and Victoria’s Secret).
For sporting and outdoor enthusiasts, you’ll be well catered for at North Face, Puma, Nike, In Sport and more.

DFO Homebush
If you’ve been to another DFO centre, the Homebush location won’t offer much out of the ordinary. It is, however, the perfect one-stop-shop for bargains.
When it comes to fashion and footwear, DFO has a similar offering to Birkenhead Point. However, it really has Birkenhead beat when it comes to furniture, homewares and haberdashery. DFO Homebush is home to a Bed, Bath n Table, DecoRug, Freedom, OzDesign Furniture and Sheridan – to name a few!
It also has a few more high end fashion stores, such as Sass and Bide, Polo Ralph Loren and Hugo Boss.

Market City
Market City and the below-ground Paddy’s Markets are conveniently located in Sydney’s CBD, only a short walk from Central station. There are only a select few factory outlets in the centre, but you’re still in the right spot for a bargain.
Market City is home to Cotton On (Body, Kids and regular), a Bonds and Converse outlets (aka Authentic Factory Outlet), as well as stores like Jay Jays, Valley Girl, Dotti and Esprit.
Paddy’s Markets is best known for its fresh produce, as well as its inexpensive iPhone covers and accessories, dress-up costumes and clothing.
