Where to Buy Affordable Art Online

If you don’t have a huge budget with which to decorate your walls, we’ve compiled a handy list of where to buy art online that is both stylish and reasonably priced.

Nothing will rejuvenate an old room like a new artwork on its walls.

Pinterest named ‘big wall art’ as one of its home trends to watch in 2018, after searches for the term soared on the site last year.

Sadly, however, few of us have a $10,000 budget to play with when it comes to wall art! While original artworks can be an investment –  and that’s always a topic worth exploring – if you’re looking purely for decor, try one of these websites for a great deal.

Bluethumb

‘Australia’s largest online art gallery’, Bluethumb is the best place to search a variety of original artworks across a range of price points.

For less than $200 you can pick up a unique painting or sketch, but for larger pieces by more established artists, prices can be upward of $3000. (Remember, if you’re after original art, consider the artist’s time and resources, for which $200 hardly seems enough!)

Helpfully, the site features staff picks and easy-to-search categories based on your style and budget. It also offers a stunning range of Aboriginal art at affordable prices.

With free shipping and – even more crucially – free returns, Bluethumb’s offer is hard to pass up.

Art Selectors Gallery

Art Selectors Gallery is home to mid to high-end original art from professional artists across the country. They curate unique and original art with oil and abstract paintings starting from $150.

If you’re an experienced art collector, interior designer or even if you’re looking to buy your very first piece of original art, browse through their diverse choice of mediums, styles, and seasonal themes and you’re sure to find something that resonates with your taste.

Blue Dog Posters

Blue Dog Posters aren’t in the business of original artworks, but instead offer unique prints and posters at a reasonable price.

The store, which has a brick-and-mortar home in Sydney’s Newtown, also sells limited edition prints by popular local artists, like Antony Makhlouf and Agnes Cecile.

Whether want a vintage pin-up or advertisement, a Salvador Dali replica, a world map or colourful print, you’ll find something to your taste. While a Star Wars movie poster could set you back as little as $12, un-framed art prints sit around $30-$90.

Urban Road

Urban Road has decor at the heart of its art catalogue. It’s not-so concerned with originality, but has large pieces that will make any room pop.

The brand is favoured by home renovation show Selling Houses Australia, whose resident interior designer Shaynna Blaze has her own Urban Road collection.

You can purchase framed and unframed prints, typically prices around $490 and $135 respectively.

Etsy

Etsy – the original kitsch online marketplace – will help you find artwork for as little as $10. Seriously. While don’t expect the $10 artwork to be ‘big wall art’ or original, this is the starting point from which you can grow.

If you do want something original, Etsy is also a great place to look for custom-made art. If a painted portrait of your pet is your thing, you’ll be able to find an artist to do it. In fact, you can probably find an artist to do it in oil paints, crayons, charcoal, watercolour and resin!

Art Lovers Australia

Search a bank of Australian artists selling paintings, photographs, prints, drawings and more.  If you’re really after a bargain, you can refine your search to artworks under $200.

Interestingly, Art Lovers Australia also offers an option to ‘commission an artwork‘, where you can have an artist create your vision.

The site is easy to search for users, and they also have free shipping an a best price guarantee!
